I felt so special when Katie & Nick asked me to be their wedding photographer! I met them in college and adore both of them. They are truly a couple that will stand the test of time. Their day started out in Steamboat Spring, CO.
After getting ready we headed to a park nearby for Nick & Katie to have their first look. They read each other personal vows that would only be shared between the two of them. I have never before seen this at a wedding, and let me tell you, the love felt between them was real. This was such a beautiful moment for them. After that we headed up into the mountains for bridal party photos! We all rode up together in an awesome "saloon bus." The skies were blue and the the sun was shining; it was gorgeous out! I loved the look of the tall grasses with the aspens, and the whole bridal party were troopers as I made them trek it through the grass!
We then proceeded to the ceremony held at the Yampa River Botanic Gardens. http://www.yampariverbotanicpark.org/ The ceremony was just as personal and heart felt as the rest of the day had been thus far. Katie's Dad started the ceremony by playing the bag pipes before he walked her down the aisle. Their officiant and friend told about their story and their lives ahead. They did a chemistry experiment to show how their love will go through tough times but will always provail. And they even decided who would read their vows first based on who won 'rock, paper, scissors'. These little things made the ceremony light hearted and fun, and truly showed how much they enjoy each other.
After the ceremony Nick & Katie rode a tandem bike to a nearby park where we did some fun photos on the swings and in the nearby creek. They were such troopers wading out into the water! After some fun in the park we were off to the reception held at Mambo Italiano. http://www.mambos.com/
There was delicious food being served at the reception and everyone was having a great time socializing. Katie's Dad and sister even sang a couple of songs for the couple after dinner. Katie & Nick then got ready to cut the cake, but instead of traditional wedding cake they again put their personality into it and had cheesecake for dessert! Preceding the cheesecake we went out and did a few sunset photos and then it was time for dancing! I have never seen a first dance like theirs... it was perfectly romantic, fun and entertaining for the guests! The night ended with friends circling them and belting out "Don't Stop Believing"! They were completely surrounded by love as the music came to an end, it was finally time to go home and I must say, it was an absolute pleasure to be at this wedding! Congratulations Nick & Katie!
