New Years Resolution - May

My dad and I just finished up our trip for this month's photo shoot. This month we decided to take a trip down the new West Line Lightrail. We went from Golden to the edge of downtown Denver. I hadn't been on the new line yet sense it opened and I was very impressed. We got off at almost every stop to take photos. We were about to turn in and we decided to go just one more. Best decision we made all night. It was a beautiful skyline of Denver and the lightrail tracks flowing straight into it. This has been one of my favorite trips so far this year. Now only to top it next month!

Kiddos

Spring has arrived! It was a beautiful spring day when I went to photograph these sweet kiddos. They were great all day and even had fun with the umbrellas when a little drizzle stopped in our way. They are such sweet kids, and I can't wait to photograph them again with their mom & dad! Happy spring!

Photo Class 2, Slater Elementary

This week, with my 5th grade photo class we learned about texture. We got to go up to Red Rocks and explore the grounds, and capture "texture" photos. The kids had a blast, two of which had never been to Red Rocks. A great class for sure! We even got to see a herd of about 15 deer on the way back down the rocks. Enjoy!

Processing RAW images part 2

I posted an article about a week ago on a new technique to use for a base to edit your RAW photos in Lightroom. I decided to try out some of my own photos with the new starting point. I have found I LOVE it. It doesn't do too much to the photos, and it's a really nice starting point for editing. Although it won't be perfect every time, it at least gave me a jumping off point. Here's my results...I'd recommend trying it! I know I'll be using it this year to speed up my post production process.

Here's the link one more time for the specifics...

Chick-fil-A Leadercast Event

This was such a fun event to photograph! It's sponsored by Chick-fil-A and I had the privilege of getting to work with the Chick-fil-A cow! He was a riot! It was such a fun group of people and the photo booth was a hit! I'm very happy I got to be a part of this event, and can't wait for the next event with the West Chamber!

Post processing RAW images

I found this to be a very interesting article from the always amazing, FStoppers. It talks about the problem that most of us see when importing our RAW images into Lightroom. Most of the contrast and saturation diminishes, leaving a flat, dull photograph. This is a great idea to give a starting off point during the editing process. I'm very excited to try it with my next photoshoot, and can't wait to show a before and after photo when I do! I hope you find this as good of a read as I did.

Butterflies

I'm feeling the spring fever and can't wait for color to start popping up around the state through all the snow storms! Here's some color to satisfy you and me until then. I went to the Butterfly Pavilion and got some beautiful shots. Enjoy, and happy spring!

Photo Class 1, Slater Elementary

I am so excited to share with you the work from the first class with my 5th grade students! I have 5 wonderful students who are catching on very quickly to the art of photography. This was our first week of class and we focused on "line." We stayed closed to familiar ground at the school and the surrounding neighborhood. We looked for lines that would catch the viewer's eye, lead them through the photograph, and create movement. For first time photographers, I think they did a great job! Here's a few shots they took...Stay tuned for next week's adventure..."texture!"
